Membership Sites 101

This week I’ve been interviewing several successful membership site owners about what they’ve done to monetize, market and maintain their sites. I’ve gleaned some super valuable information and have been excited to see the interest that these interviews are generating.

Imagine my surprise when several questions were asked that showed that many people are still unsure about exactly what options are available and how to get things setup for their first membership site.

So I thought I’d take a moment and answer some of the questions that were asked via my blog. Since for every 1 person who asks a question, there are usually 10 more who have that same question.

Can I have different payment prices for different memberships?
The answer is yes. Using WishList Member and many other membership programs, you can set up special levels of membership for each category you want. Then, using your payment processor, you create a product for each membership level. When you integrate your membership site with your payment processor, your customers will be able to purchase access to your site at the amount you specify and view the content that you want them to!

How do I add content to my site?
If you are using WishList Member (or any WordPress based membership platform), then it’s very simple. Just create a page or a post, add your content (text, audio, video, etc.) and publish! Depending on your membership platform, you may have to also tell the system how to protect that page/post. In WishList, there’s a button to choose Yes or No for protection, and if Yes, which membership levels should be able to access it.

If these questions seemed super basic to you, then you’re ready for my ebook, Make Money with Memberships, due out in June. If these questions really helped you understand more about membership sites, then comment below! I’ll be sure you get a special invitation to a teleseminar I’m doing in June to help more people grasp what a membership site is and how it can work for them.
