A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Okay, so I’m not really a dollar short. But I did sign up for a blog challenge over the month of August. How’d I do? Well…

Let’s just say that it really didn’t happen and let it go at that. I did, however, get a nice list of a myriad of blog topics that I’ve determined I’m going to use over the course of September.

September is one of my favorite months and has been for years. I think it’s partly due to the fact that, for me, school always began the day after Labor Day. I still get a quiver at Back to School sales and the smell of new pencils sends a thrill of pure joy down my spine. Ok, I’m a nerd.

The other reason I love September is that my birthday occurs at the end of the month. As the years pass, you’d think that my birthday would be less and less exciting. But I still love birthdays! The one day a year thats perfectly special and all about YOU. Why wouldn’t I love it?? This year I get to celebrate all month long as a friend of mine sent four packages to me. They’re marked with each week in the month, so I get to open one each week! Yay!

So I’m committing to sharing more via this blog throughout the course of September. I’m hoping that it will become a habit and I’ll keep the momentum going throughout the year. I’m not going to state unequivocally that I’ll be posting once a day or anything. I’ll be doing good with twice a week!

If you’re curious about what I have to say, think about signing up for my RSS feed using the on the right. You’ll be notified whenever I post!

Pressure or No Pressure? That is the Sales Question

I was reading the Comics section of my Sunday paper the other day, after clipping all my coupons, and laughed at a few of the strips. Some were confusing and not-so-funny, but one really stood out as a “well, duh!” moment for business owners. [Read more...]

Making a Reconnection…

I’m currently having an interesting conversation with @WarrenWhitlock on Twitter. He’d first asked the question:

So I responded and we had a great conversation. [Read more...]

Is Customer Service Going Extinct?

As I have opportunities to visit retail stores, service-based businesses, and other locations, I find myself sub-consciously evaluating the customer service staff. Since I’m a customer service oriented person myself, I know how hard it can be at times to be pleasant and knowledgeable at all times. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible. [Read more...]

“Get Clients Now” Marketing Begins!

And the world says, “Well, finally!”

Seriously, I’ve been trying to get started with this for several months now and even started once for a day or two. Then life got in the way, business got busy and I never followed through. However, May is the perfect month to get a fresh start and see how it goes!

I started going through my Action Steps this week. I’ve done fairly good on a few of them (writing blog posts, articles and engaging on Twitter) and not so good on the others (research and LinkedIn). It’s good to see where my weaknesses are and I’ll be trying to focus better on those areas next week – while not letting the good ones slip.

Have I seen results? Well, none of my goals are met yet (hey – it’s only been one week!), but I’ve had several opportunities drop into my lap and I’ve been a bit more energetic about pursing potential outlets for marketing. Overall, I’ll have to say I’m pleased with the results so far, and know that the more consistent I am, the better the potential return.

If you are interested in following my progress, be sure to follow me on Twitter and keep an eye on my Ezine Articles author page. And of course, this blog!

Have you gone through “Get Clients Now” yet? What are you doing to jumpstart your marketing efforts before the summer kicks off? Leave a comment here and let’s get the conversation going!

Marketing Plan in Action!

I sat down with my coach yesterday to review my Marketing Plan. I’m going through C. J. Hayden’s “Get Clients Now” book (she’s been through the book before; this is my first time) and Day 1 of 28 is Monday, May 3rd.

I’m excited. No, really! I have some clear goals stated and specific actions to do each day to help reach those goals. As I work to revamp my business, this is just the ticket for serious change.

Change is good. If 2010 hasn’t been as momentous as you were expecting, don’t repeat the same actions! Try something new. Whether you join me in the“Get Clients Now” program or you follow a different plan, put something in place and then stick to it! I’m excited to see where I am at the end of the program…30 days from now.

How will you make things different?

Strategies 4 Social Marketing – the experts speak out!

As you may know, I’m up in Atlanta sitting in the conference room at the Niche Affiliate Marketing System conference. This morning, five experts in Social Media answered the top 5 questions they get asked about marketing with Social Media.
If you are a business owner, then you have probably heard of Social Media tools like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc. Have you been using them for your business?
We’re in the middle of a session right now, but I wanted to take a moment and let you know that this recording is being made available to everyone – not just the attendees!
Since we’re all learning about affiliate marketing here at NAMS, the instructors put this product together, and are allowing us to share it with our community. Now, there is a cost for this product ($17), but you get a great bonus with it as well!
Now, I normally don’t promote a lot of stuff to you — I’m doing it today for two reasons:
  1. It’s rare to get 5 experts on Social Media (Jeff Herring, Maritza Parra, Kevin Riley, Willie Crawford & Joey Smith) in one place at one time answering the most frequently asked questions about Social Media Marketing.
  2. The NAMS folks are running a sales contest. :-) They’re offering some great prizes and I’d love to win! So, if you purchase a copy (or two!) and email me the receipt, I’ll rebate you 50% of the purchase price. So instead of $17, it would only be $8.50… what a deal!
So, if you’d like to learn more about Social Media, then I highly recommend that you check out this audio recording!

Marketing Challenge

I asked my coach a question last week. I asked her what her thoughts were on C. J. Hayden’s Get Clients Now! book. She’d mentioned it in a teleseminar, and I wondered just what it was all about.

I’d heard others mention it…that it was a great marketing tool. I’m not really looking for a lot of one-on-one clients, so always assumed that it couldn’t help me.

After talking with my coach, however, it became clear that the practices outlined in Get Clients Now! are quite versatile and apply to all areas, not just “closing the sale”.

So, my coach is launching a new program this fall. And I’d really like to grow my community. So she challenged me…and herself. We’re going to go through the book together, over the next four weeks. Starting on Saturday, October 24th. The program goes for 28 days, and we will be keeping each other accountable to get our marketing tasks done.

I know we will see amazing results. And so will you as you follow our journey through Get Clients Now!
